Regine Velasquez calls ABS-CBN the 'No. 1 station'.
Regine Velasquez's return to the ABS-CBN network made major headlines on October 17. The Asia's Songbird signed a two-year contract with the network and will be starring in a couple of shows including Idol Philippines, a sitcom with husband Ogie Alcasid and actor Ian Veneracion, and the Sunday variety-show ASAP.
While many were delighted that the singer is back in her home network, the singer was also bombarded by rumors that she was offered 500 million pesos that's why she became a Kapamilya.
In her press conference on October 17, Regine clarified that it was not the reason of her network transfer at all. Regine remarked that her desire to work with the talented artists of ABS-CBN was the reason of her decision.
"The reason I'm here is because hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko pa kayang kumanta and I want to work with their talented singers. 'Yun talaga 'yon. Na bago man lang matapos ang career ko ay masasabi kong nakatrabaho ko rin ang no. 1 station," she said.
She also extended her gratitude to the network for the warm welcome she received during her homecoming.
"You know at my age and at this stage of my career, we all know, alam niyo, lahat naman ng mga reporters dito mga kaibigan ko na. Hindi naman ako ilusyonadang tao. Alam ko naman ang lugar ko sa industry. Kaya sobra akong touched na touched sa welcome na ibinigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN, kasi hindi ko akalain na ganun ako ka-importante," she said during the press conference.
