When PUSH caught up with him on the red carpet of the recent star-studded ABS-CBN Ball, Rommel Padilla shared why he was happy to finally be invited to the formal event. "First time ko maka-attend nitong ball ng ABS-CBN at siyempre excited ako namagkakaroon din ng pagkakataon na makita ko yung dalawa, si DJ (Padilla) at si Kathryn (Bernardo) and the rest of my friends ngayon gabi. Masaya din ako dahil beneficiary itong ball na ito at mapupunta sa Bantay Bata,” he said.
The talented actor shared how he is able to balance both his acting and political career successfully. “Siguro it’s making use of the time wisely lang (laughs). Yun lang. Ngayon ginagawa namin yung Take Life, the teleserye with Gerald Anderson. Yung sa Ang Probinsyano hindi pa naman tapos yung character ko and currently provincial board member ako sa Nueva Ecija so tuloy tuloy lang,” he said.
Despite their busy schedules, Rommel said that he and DJ still manage to find some simple father-son bonding time. The older Padilla said his son surprised him by having a taste for older music. “Yes usually sa bahay gitara, bisikleta. Kahit papaano meron naman time na naisisingit naman. Hindi ako nagturo kay DJ mag-gitara, sariling sikap yun. Pareho kaming bassist. Alam mo si DJ kahit ganung edad niya, ang music niya yung sa amin eh. May ‘80s, ‘90s, nag-bi-Beatles pa, Frank Sinatra, yung mga standard songs which is also my music,” he shared.
