EXCLUSIVE: Mitoy Yonting looks forward to a duet with Regine Velasquez

As he prepares for his band’s upcoming anniversary concert Biyaheng Diyes on October 30 at Resorts World Manila, Mitoy Yonting said he is excited about the return of Regine Velasquez to the Kapamilya network. “Si Ms. Regine parang hindi nag-krus ang landas namin. Pero hoping ako na hindi naman makalaban kundi makantahan na lang. Parang malapit na eh. Na-meet ko na siya, na-introduce ko na yung sarili ko kay sir Ogie (Alcasid). Sabi ko, ‘Pakilala mo naman ako kay Ms. Regine.’ Pero formally hindi pa, hi hi lang na. Pero formally pag nagkakilala kami gusto ko siya maka-duet ng kanta. Siguro kahit ano. Kung mabibigyan ng chance. Kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon bakit hindi di ba? Excited ako. Sana mangyari yun. Medyo nandun na (laughs),” he shared during the Mitoy Yonting and The Drayber’s 10th Anniversary concert presscon last week in Pasay City.For their special one-night concert, Mitoy said his band’s dream was to elevate the impression of provincial bands in the Philippines. “Yung sini-celebrate namin yung pangalanag Draybers lang ha. 1996-97 pa lang, nung nag-move akong Dagupan from Quezon City, nasa different bands pa kami. We decided na pupunta kami Manila kasi sorry to say, pero ang tawag sa amin local bands eh sa probinsya, na nakaka-upset, nakaka-disappoint kasi pag yung banda from Manila ang tumugtog sa mga venues sa probinsya, 800 ang budget nila kasi Manila band sila. Chinallenge ko, sabi ko kung magkakaroon ng pagkakataon, tayo ang pupunta sa Manila at sila dito sa probinsya, parang ganun,” he explained.Having successfully balanced his career in both singing and acting, Mitoy said it’s all about proper time management. “Yung sitcom naman, ever since nagsimula yung <a href='https://entertainment.abs-cbn.com/tv/shows/homesweetiehome/main'>Home Sweetie Home</a> every Tuesday. Ang suwerte ko lang na binibigay nila sa akin yung cut-off time na hanggang 8 pm or 9 pm basta alam nilang hindi ako ma-le-late. Alam na ng production yun na I have to leave before eight or bago mag-eight or nine. Tapos yung ibang projects naman kapag may inquiry, titingnan ko muna yung calendar.
