After another exciting year of hosting and reporting, Gretchen Ho said she is excited about the last quarter of the year when she takes a short break from television to tick off another item on her bucket list. “I want to study abroad. I’m actually about to fly to the States. They got me for this journalism course in the States under the state department. So three weeks yun at the end of the year. And then I want to climb more mountains like Kota Kinabalu. Gusto ko yun. Tapos I’m looking forward to doing more stories also for news,” she shared.
Gretchen said that her short course is a scholarship where she is the lone representative from the Philippines. “Oo libre lahat. Everything is shouldered by the government. It’s a summit on disinformation and citizen journalism so parang ako lang yung from the Philippines and then we’re 50 countries that are going to be there,” she said.
When she first found out she had been chosen, the talented athlete and host said it was the perfect opportunity that she had been waiting for. “Sobrang kilig ko. As in ang high. Parang I’ve been wanting to study abroad kasi pero hindi ko mahanap yung time because it’s either three months or one year or two years. So this one is perfect because it’s just three weeks. So I’m not going to be gone for too long. But it also tackles the heart of what I want to study which is yung digital journalism, citizen journalism, at saka disinformation kasi usong uso na yan ngayon di ba? Fake news,” she explained.
