Kuh Ledesma also talks about her scheduled project with the late director Maryo Delos Reyes.
With the announcement of her first concert of the year happening on February 13, Kuh Ledesma admitted that part of the idea started when she met up with Gabby Concepcion in the US last month. “I’m very excited to do this show with Gabby. I had the chance last year to spend the holidays with him and his family and some of my closest friends. Na-meet ko si Gabby nung December sa San Francisco and we had a duet together in a Christmas show and sabi namin baka puwede kaming mag-tour next year,” she shared during the Love Matters press launch held last January 29 at Japan Town in Ayala Vertis North mall.
Kuh said she is happy to finally be able to perform a concert in Quezon City. “First time in this venue and in Quezon City mismo. In my 14 years, we’ve never done a Valentine’s show here and I thought it’s a very practical thing dahil hindi na lulusob ng traffic yung mga gustong manuod sa amin. At the same time ang ganda ng parking space. It’s on the 13th kaya huwag ka na sumabay sa 14th (laughs). I’m always praying na sana magkaroon ng solusyon yung traffic natin sa Pilipinas. And I think it can be solved,” she explained.
Part of the singer’s repertoire will be a mix of old and new love songs. “I’m doing some pop hits and then siyempre a lot of duets and romantic songs. We want to inspire people to stay in love and inspire people to get married if they’re in love. kasi kung mahal mo pakasalan mo huwag mo na paghintayin ng matagal. I still do pop music basta gusto ko siya. Last Valentine’s we did more pop music. I love Adele. I like her music,” she said.
The Love Matters performer said she feels saddened by the sudden passing of veteran director Maryo De los Reyes whom she was also supposed to work with this year. “We respect him so much as an director. I may be working also with Gina Alajar. It came as a shock na wala na si Maryo kasi he’s such a wonderful director. Magaling siyang director. He’s going to be sorely missed. At saka mabait siya, he’s always smiling. Well respected yan,” she added.
The Love Matters concert will be held on February 13, Tuesday and is a production of ALV Talent Circuit in partnership with the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent in Quezon City. For ticket inquiries, please call Ticketworld at 891-9999 or the Ayala Malls conciere in Vertis North 718-5000 local 6366.
