OPM veteran singers Rey Valera, Imelda Papin, Claire dela Fuente, and Rico J. Puno are joining forces for a Valentine’s Day concert titled Timeless OPM.
During the event’s press conference at the Icon Hotel on Timog, Quezon City, Rey said that they will be singing an all OPM lineup.
“Para ‘to ‘dun sa mga taong mahilig sa Pilipino music, OPM. Napansin ko mas mabibigyan justice namin dahil inabutan namin ‘yung panahon na ‘yun at we are part of that,” the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ punong hurado said.
Sharing that they will be performing their original songs, Rey added, “Maaring madagdag ‘yung mga kanta ng iba naming mga kasamahan, kamukha ng Apo Hiking Society, iba pang mga established na grupo na naging OPM na tinatawag nating classics. ‘Yan ang ieexpect nila.”
Among others, Rey popularized the songs ‘Kung Kailangan Mo Ako’ and ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ while Rico’s hits were ‘Macho Gwapito’ and ‘Sorry Na, Pwede Ba?’ Meanwhile, Claire is most famous for her song ‘Sayang’ and Imelda for her song ‘Isang Linggong Pag-ibig’.
“’Yung mga tao namang nanonood sa’min, kadalasan mga tatlong beses, apat na beses na kaming napanood niyan eh. Ang challenge lang naman dito ay kung paano kami magbeblend with Claire and Imelda, that’s it. Pero kami ni Rico, napansin niyo naman talagang kahit magbatuhan kami ng (jokes),” Rey said.
“Meron ‘dun mga duet na with the two of them, with the two of us. At the same time, meron tayong apat. May mga gano’n,” he added.
Timeless OPM happens on February 14 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila. Young singers Rita Daniella and L.A. Santos will also be making a special appearance on the show.
