Director Cathy Garcia-Molina has already revealed the effectivity date of her retirement
Blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina is not yet retiring from doing movies.
Contrary to what she claimed during the press conference of her film Seven Sundays, where she said that she’s only making “one more film” before she finally retires, a new project can be expected from the ace director.
“Akala ko rin eh,” she replied when asked about what she previously said during the story conference of her upcoming romantic-comedy titled My Perfect You starring the fresh tandem of Gerald Anderson and Pia Wurtzbach.
“Hindi na. Basta ang sure lang kasi na nilatag ko last time is that 2019 will be my last year. So it’s up to Star Cinema and ABS-CBN what to give me during that year,” Direk Cathy explained further.
According to her though, what she said in the past is still actually true.
“Apparently dapat in my contract, that’s supposed to be one film na lang, that’s supposed to be KathNiel. Eh nadagdagan,” she said.
Fans of La Luna Sangre stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo recently got really excited over a circulating photo of their idols seemingly meeting with Direk Cathy. Some were quick to assume that it was for their supposed upcoming film together.
“Hindi naman ako para humindi, you know this is a project that I would want. And I also like the story talaga of this so I’ve accepted it with the KathNiel project na hindi natatanggal,” she said.
So does it mean that she’ll only be making these last two projects with KathNiel and PiaRald?
“Maybe some more, maybe two more films,” Direk Cathy said. “I don’t know. Depende po. Ako’y empleyado lang ng Star Cinema at ABS-CBN so susunod lang ako.”
What’s certain though is that “Hanggang February 2019 nalang po ako.”
Direk Cathy is the director of the local iconic films such as One More Chance, You Changed My Life and My Amnesia Girl, among others.
