It might have already been decades since Jericho Rosales made his debut on Philippine television, but the actor remains one of the most sought-after and bankable stars in the entertainment industry. When it comes to his longevity in show business, Jericho attributes it to his relentless commitment to his craft.
“You have to see the value of what you do and for me when I realized that six years into my career sabi ko there’s a purpose why,” he said in an interview at the media launching of his new soap Love Will Lead You Back.
He shared that he finds inspiration especially when he touches the lives of the Filipinos living abroad who get to watch his series through The Filipino Channel.
“Every time we travel, burnout na ako pero pagpunta namin ng TFC and then someone from a small town in New Zealand, Filipino family somewhere around the world, parang in a different continent sasabihin niya sa akin ‘thank you,’ halos naluluha, ‘ang ganda ng shows niyo,’ di ba? So I found purpose in what I do so what I did is it’s my responsibility na hindi magsawa. I have to make it exciting, I want to collaborate with my co-actors, collaborate with my directors and build good relationships so I think that’s why [I’m still here]. ABS-CBN sees that, I value my work that’s why I study, hindi ako nagsasawang mag-aral, hindi ako magsasawang mag-evolve,” he said.
Jericho’s soap operas have been gaining recognition not only here in the Philippines but also abroad. Aside from Asia, his projects already reached Latin America. One of the projects that became popular abroad is his phenomenal serye Pangako Sa’yo. Asked if he is open to work again with former onscreen partner Kristine Hermosa, Jericho replied, “Well, I’m open. I would say I’m open. Wala akong problema kung magkaroon man kami ulit ng project together.”
