An act of kindness, no matter how small, would never go unnoticed. Just like what happened to Cristina Tan who earned the admiration of thousands of netizens after revealing a heartwarming gesture she did for an exhausted taxi driver.

On her Facebook account, Cristina narrated how while riding a taxi on the way home, the old man behind the wheel asked her to transfer to a different vehicle because he was very sleepy.

Lipat nalang daw ako dahil hindi niya kaya mag drive sa sobrang antok, sabi ko delikado naman kung baba ako somewhere hindi ko alam kung makakasakay agad ako so I insist ako na ang mag drive dahil malayo pa ang bahay ko from our location,” she narrated.

She relayed that the driver initially was hesitant to let her drive. When she started maneuvering the car, the old man immediately doze off.

She relayed, “First ayaw niya nahihiya at akala nya hindi ako marunong mag drive ng manual. Pero pinilit ko nalang para maka idlip siya habang traffic. Nung ako na ang nag da-drive nakatulog agad siya at humihilik pa. Habang nasa byahe ang dami pumapara sa taxi tapos nagugulat at natatawa dahil babae ang driver.”

In her interview with the Inquirer, Cristina shared that the 70-year-old taxi driver has been driving since the Marcos era. “Puro babae anak kaya naghahanap buhay pa rin till now. Ginising ko na lang si tatay nung nakarating na kami sa bahay ko. Wala lang gusto ko lang i-share kasi first time ko,” she posted.

Cristina also related that when the driver told her to just pay half of her fare, she went as far as to giving him 500 pesos to help him with his boundary so would not be on the road all day.

The art dealer, who is also the president of Silent Power of Youth, has a soft spot for the elderly since her father passed away in 2015. Through the organization, Cristina has been doing outreach projects in the past 10 years.

Her Facebook post already earned 249k likes as of this writing. Many netizens commended her act of kindness.
