During her contract signing with ALV Talent Circuit last September 15, Ruffa Gutierrez admitted she was aware of the issue about John Lloyd Cruz’s controversial videos circulating on social media during his recent trip to Cebu with Ellen Adarna. “I’ve seen it and I’m shocked. I was shocked. Na-shock at saka naawa ako,” she said.
Ruffa, who briefly dated Lloydy back in 2009, admitted she reached out to him after she heard about the issue. “Well you know maliit lang naman ang industriya and may pinagsamahan naman kami so I messaged him and I said I’m offering my prayers, hope whatever it is that you’re going through malagpasan mo yan, and he sent a message back and sabi niya, ‘I really appreciate you checking up on me.’ Siyempre sa amin na lang yung conversation namin. Na-appreciate naman niya yung text ko. We’re not the best of friends and we don’t hang out but we have a civil relationship and I can say that we’re friends. Maliit lang naman ang industriya so whatever things that we’ve been through in the past naayos na yun matagal na,” she shared.
The outspoken actress said she hopes celebrities will be more careful when it comes to their lives off camera. “Well first of all, I don’t want to give him advice kasi matanda na siya. He knows what he’s doing and if he approves of that then that’s his thing. But for me personally I’m always very particular of who I’m with. I want to surround myself with good people, surround myself with positive people and people that will protect me and not people that will put me in a bad light. And especially it takes you so long and so hard to build a career, to build a life and in one instant masisira lang? So not a John Lloyd topic but personally for me if someone did that to me naku patay na siya. As in patay (laughs),” she explained.
The It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez star said she knows the importance of keeping your private life away from the cameras. “Basically if you guys want to have a good time and if anyone wants to have a good time, itago niyo na yung mga cellphones niyo okay. Back in the day nung lumalabas ako, hindi pa uso yung cellphones. I’m so thankful I was able to have a great happy life na walang nakakaalam. You know what I mean? In the first place hindi naman ganun ang trip ko right? I’m happy na I was able to have a great teenage life na walang social media na walang cameras, na walang phones pa back then. Now kailangan talaga doble ingat,” she advised.
