After his loaded comment about local magazines a few weeks ago, Jake Cuenca explained that he was not referring to any specific celebrity or local magazine.
Jake had lamented about magazines prioritizing business over content on Twitter almost three weeks ago.
What's happened to magazines here? They just put people who could sell rather than having people who can actually influence fashion? Ano to?— Jake Cuenca (@ijakecuenca) July 11, 2017
“I don’t want to make it bigger than what it is. That’s my opinion. Take it or leave it. Wala namang personal. Wala lang, I was just looking at magazines tapos ganun ang naging reaction ko,” he said in an interview during the press conference of his upcoming Cinelamaya entry Requited.
His comment coincidentally came just hours after the launch of La Luna Sangre stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's magazine cover as this year's "Most Beautiful Stars."
The Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin star shared that he is not maligning the Box Office tandem.
“I was not mentioning any single actor. I wasn’t going off about actors or celebrities. I was talking about magazines," he explained.
Jake even mentioned that it's virtually impossible for him to slam Daniel, what with the kind of relationship that they have as colleagues.
"At the end of the day, alam ba ng mga tao kung gaano kami ka-close ni DJ? Okay kaming dalawa nun. I’m not pertaining to any celebrity,” he said.
In the end, the actor reiterated that his opinion is intended to "push people to be more creative."
“Is it so bad for someone to react to something, especially I’m an actor? But like I said, opinion ko lang 'yun,” ended the first-time film producer.
