Liza Diño shares what to expect from ‘Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino’ movies

Liza Diño spearheaded the announcement of the twelve films included in Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) last June 30, 2017. The Film Development Council Chairperson and CEO remarked that the one-week exclusive screening of Filipino films from August 16 to 22, 2017 aims to become a major platform for local producers to showcase their movies to the Filipino audience.

“Isa sa mga goal namin talaga is to really excite the industry again, encourage our local film producers na magkaroon sila ng platform na sila lang, para sa Pilipino lang ‘to, hindi natin kalaban ang mga foreign films. The bigger goal is for us to have more platforms, mas maraming opportunity para sa local filmmakers,” she said.

She added that the films that will be featured in PPP will tackle different stories “We are pushing the fold and giving the public a different kind of genre films—fresh, engaging and uniquely Filipino—and those are truly something that we should celebrate,” she shared.

Liza thanked the selection jury for their incredible job in choosing the finalists. “Our selection jury made it easy for us to really decide kung sino ‘yung pipiliin. They were all given the films na entries and pinanood nila ‘yun at nagkaroon kami ng deliberations week at during that week don namin na-finalize kung sino ‘yung twelve,” she said.

She shared that the Council will be giving out two awards. “Since audience-oriented ‘yung event basically meron lang tayong ‘Audience Award’ pero nag-decide ang jury na magkaroon lang ng isang ‘Critic Choice’, so dalawang awards ‘yung maibibigay natin,” she stated.
