Charo Santos reacts on being called by the younger generation as ‘#Goals’

Despite her stature, ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos remained speechless about being tagged as #Goals by a number of millennials these days.

“You know I’m happy that I’m able to inspire them. Let’s just be happy, ‘di ba? Wag nating tignan ‘yung mabigat, tignan natin ‘yung maganda,” she said in an interview at Sun Life’s Living and Leaving A Legacy press conference where she introduced the Sun Smarter Life protection product.

“It’s always a matter of perspective and it’s always a matter of choice. So I think it’s a choice to be happy and it’s a choice to look at the positive side of life,” she continued.

Santos retired from being the president of ABS-CBN almost two years ago and has since been active in fulfilling a number of personal goals in her life.

Most recent of which was her successful autobiographical book titled My Journey: The Story of an Unexpected Leader. During the book’s launch, Santos admitted that she was really hesitant to write a book about herself.

But with its success, a good number of people are now asking her to create another one.

“Now some young people are talking to me na ‘Ma’am Charo why don’t you come up with your Top 10 whatever?’ ‘Yung light reading. My Top 10 crushes mga ganyan. Si Piolo (Pascual) yan,” shared the Maalala Mo Kaya host.

Nevertheless, she was noncommittal if a second book would be possible for her.

But, one thing is certain, Santos is bent on crossing off a number of things on her bucket list

“Pwede ba akong mag-konsyerto?” she joked as her first goal.

She continued, “Hindi biro lang naman yan. I love to sing eh. My mother was a singer so I also love to sing. Pero hindi ko naman pinapangarap na Araneta kahit sa banyo lang.”

Santos continued to share the other things that she’s hoping to be able to fulfill soon enough, including taking up piano lessons again.

“Of course traveling is already part of the lifestyle of a lot of people. I want to go to Machu Picchu. Trekking. I’m really more of a mountain person. I’m not so much of a beach person,” she shared.

In the end, Santos explained the purpose of her continuous improvement as a person despite her numerous feats in the past.

“It’s not being an expert about anything but it’s about conquering my fears, it’s facing my fears,” she said. “Kung dati sinasabi ko ‘Ay hindi ko kaya yan.’ Tsaka right away you underestimate yourself kasi nga yung fear of rejection na mamamatay ka or gina-gradan ka.”
