Malaysian singer Nik Quistina is impressed with Darren Espanto: ‘He’s amazing!’

After her short visit to the country last month for her music video collaboration with Darren Espanto, popular Malaysian pop singer Nik Quistina admitted she enjoyed meeting and working with a fellow teen singer. “I did with my single ‘Young Hearts’ and also his single ‘My Baby and Me’ and we did a music video shoot for a whole day from 6 am to 8 pm at night and then so far Darren has been amazing and the collaboration has been going smoothly. I want the fans to feel the chill vibes that we’re giving out of ‘Young Hearts’ and also the groovy vibe of ‘My Baby and Me’. I’m very honored to be surrounded by talented people and also Darren is one of them. To be doing a music video with Darren himself is such an honor,” she shared.

Nik said that before coming to the Philippines she had never met Darren before but they instantly hit it off. “Universal Music Malaysia actually showed me his performances and what he is capable to do like his talents. He’s amazing! He sings and dances at the same time so that’s very rare to see in an artist. He’s cute of course. I’m cuter (laughs). Sorry Darren! He’s like a little brother yes. He’s a prankster. He actually wanted to put soy sauce in my drink (laughs). It’s an inside joke. He tweeted that he actually did a prank on his auntie. His auntie was drinking water and then when his auntie wasn’t looking he put soy sauce in her drink and I tweeted him back, ‘That’s so mean!’ and he said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll do the same to you during our tour’ and I didn’t reply to him. And then when I tweeted that I landed in the Philippines he said ‘Can’t wait to put soy sauce in your drink!’ (laughs). He hasn’t done it because the first time that we met he actually me he actually joked and said, ‘Is there any soy sauce in this restaurant?’ (laughs) But no he didn’t. He’s actually very sweet and very, very humble,” she shared.

The teen singer also pointed out how she immediately felt the love from Darren’s fans when they announced their collaboration online. “Even before I collaborated with him I just told everyone that I have a single coming out ‘Young Hearts’ with Darren Espanto and also I’ll be featuring on his song and his fans went crazy (laughs). And they have been so supportive. They gave me warm greetings when I arrived here and they said take care of yourself and we hope you enjoy the Philippines and so far I just love it. Everyone here is very sweet and also Malaysia has that characteristic as well but I would say the Philippines are most respectful. They say po. I just learned that (laughs),” she said.
