Snapchat’s co-founder and Snap Inc.’s chief technology officer Bobby Murphy is one of the youngest billionaires in the world according to Forbes. The 28-year-old Filipino-American tech businessman has an estimated worth of $4 billion.
Bobby was born in Berkeley, California. Both his parents are California state employees. His mother Rosie L. Go-Murphy is a Filipina who emigrated from the Philippines to America. Bobby graduated from Stanford University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical and Computational Science. It was in Stanford where he met Snapchat’s co-founder Evan Spiegel.
“We weren’t cool so we tried to build things to be cool,” Bobby told Forbes in an interview. They founded Snapchat in 2011.
Bobby was included in Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” in 2014. Forbes named him as the second youngest billionaire in the world in 2015. He was also in Forbes' list of America’s richest self-made entrepreneurs in their 20s.
