After years of being talked about, suspense-thriller flick Bloody Crayons is finally hitting the theaters next month.
During the photo shoot of some of the cast members on Wednesday, June 14, they happily shared that their film would be released on July 12.
The Wattpad-inspired Topel Lee flick features teen stars Janella Salvador, Elmo Magalona, Sofia Andres, Diego Loyzaga, Maris Racal, Jane Oineza, Empoy Marquez, Yves Flores, and Ronnie Alonte.
“We are super excited because it’s our very first film under Star Cinema,” said Janella.
Elmo underscored that they have been working hard on the movie, especially since they are both first timers in the thriller genre.
“I’m very happy na mapapalabas na siya for everyone to see because it’s really nice,” Elmo said.
Janella went on to clarify that the film is not a horror flick because it doesn’t have any supernatural element.
“It’s really suspense because you’ll have to figure out who the killer is,” she explained. “It’s the first millennial thriller.”
The flick follows the story of nine friends who decided to visit an island to shoot a project. What could have been an enjoyable experience turned life-threatening as they die one-by-one.
The young actor, for his part, pointed out that it’s been a while since Star Cinema has created a barkada film for the audience to enjoy.
Originally slated for release last year, Bloody Crayons started its production in 2015 after rights for the story were acquired by Star Cinema.
According to Janella much of the delay in the film’s production was caused by the changes in the script and the cast.
“This film has been through a lot of changes. Like 10th draft na. Like even artists, we weren’t the originals to portray the roles. It’s been in the making for a long time,” she said.
Aside from Bloody Crayons, Janella and Elmo are also working on their first title film together My Fairytail Love Story.
The fantasy-romance film features Janella as a mermaid. However, the young actress shared that they have currently stopped shooting the film in order to finish their last few shooting days for Bloody Crayons.
