Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid signed a contract with the Kapamilya recording arm Star Music on Friday, May 5.
He is currently working on a new album titled “Nakakalokal” which he is co-producing with songwriter Jonathan Manalo. “It’s my, parang giving back to the local music industry and it’s also Pinoy pride,” he said.
Saying that he is the one writing all the songs, Ogie shared, “Hindi naman ako humiwalay ‘dun sa dati ko ng ginagawa which is I guess, the Ogie’s style na mayroong mga malulungkot, mayroong tungkol sa paghihiwalay. Mayroon tungkol sa pagsasama.”
“But, what I’ve added now sa album is I added a dance tune kasi napansin ko na ‘pag nagcoconcert ako, lagi ko na lang kinakanta ‘yung Dito Sa Puso Ko, Sumayaw Sumunod… Parang I needed a new song,” he said.
“Nainspire ako kasi like Bruno Mars is already bringing the old sound from the funky 90s. Ang naabutan ko ‘yung 80s and 70s, the disco era, naabutan ko ‘yun so binalik ko ‘yun sa isang kanta ko.”
The Tawag ng Tanghalan judge also said that he wrote a thematic rock song which he is very excited about, “’Pag narinig mo siya, medyo maiintindihan mo, ito pala ‘yung konsepto ng album ni Ogie. Parang binibida niya ang musikang Pilipino.”
According to Ogie and Jonathan, the album is slated to be released last week of July. He will also have a birthday concert in August which will also be titled “Nakakalokal.”
