With her new relationship continuously hogging headlines, Japanese star Maria Ozawa admitted that her boyfriend Jose Sarasola asked her about a controversy she got embroiled in previously.

Rumors of the former adult star having an intimate moment with Cesar Montano made rounds in 2015. The two worked together on the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Nilalang.

“Oh, my God! Actually, way before we started to date, he was asking me these questions and, of course, all the tsismis that I’ve had before,” she said in an interview with PEP.

Maria recalled that Jose started his line of questioning quite innocently.

“And he will be, like, ‘How’s your movie? I saw your movie Nilalang. The co-star and leading actor, Cesar Montano, are you guys friends? Is this rumor true?’ Stuff like that,” she recalled.

But Maria emphasized that the said issue was “just tsismis.”

The actress actually has nothing but good words for the Tourism Promotions Board Chief Operating Officer.

“Cesar is a gentleman. He’s really nice. But then, nothing really happened,” she said.

Why does she think Jose asked her about it?

“He was really worried if I had a relationship before. I was, like, ‘No, no, no, no, no! Nothing to worry about,’” she said.

While she thinks “it’s cute that he cares,” Maria said Jose cautioned her about how she should speak next to Filipinos.

“He told me not to joke like that, ‘because the Filipinos are so malicious about your joke. They take it seriously,’” she shared.

“He taught me, ‘Be careful of your words, what you say. You’re an icon,’” Maria continued.

After learning her lesson “the hard way” Maria says she’s now more mindful of the things she says.

“Now that we’re together, I think before I say things,” she ended.
