During her contract signing as the newest World Vision ambassador for Health and Nutrition last May 22 in Quezon city, Gretchen Ho said she was happy to finally be part of an international organization that benefits children.
“Sobrang honored ko talaga to be part of World Vision kasi sobrang hilig ko sa mga bata as in. Sa Umagang Kay Ganda pag nakakakita ako ng mga bata tuwang tuwa ako. Masaya na yung araw ko and to be able to help them through World Vision na ang laki nung scope hindi lang pagdating sa education kundi pagdating sa pagkain pati sa komunidad nila, overall formation. Hindi lang yun, mas magiging involved pa ako by being there sa community so sobrang honor yun for me to be able to find an avenue to channel my passion for helping kids,” she told Push.
Apart from being part of the World Vision programs, Gretchen shared she is looking forward to this coming September when the U.S Embassy will send her to be part of the Women’s Youth Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“I really believe that everything happens for a reason. Like God allowed this to happen because he has a purpose. And napakalaking bagay siguro nung panahon ko doon for me, for my heart, for my faith. Actually parang after nung nangyari parang tuloy tuloy din yung opportunities dumadating sa buhay ko in terms of work and nakita ko na parang si Lord gusto niya na mag-focus ako sa mission ko para sa kanya. Mas aggressive ako this year in accepting projects like World Vision. I think ito na yung sinasabi naming dalawa (ni Robi) na it’s for our growth eh. So I’ve been growing a lot,” she explained.
After news broke out last March that she and boyfriend Robi Domingo have decided to part ways, Gretchen revealed she was happy to have spent her 27th birthday in New York where she was also able to give a talk at the World Youth Alliance.
“Sobrang saya kasi first time ko mag-spend ng birthday ko out of the country tapos parang feeling ko lang parang trineat ko yung sarili ko to a really good vacation and I was with my best friend and her family so lumabas lang kami. Sinalubong namin yung birthday ko. Tapos nung birthday ko mismo nag-alone time lang ako. Umikot lang ako ng New York mag-isa. Kailangan ko lang kasi tahimik eh kasi dito sa Pilipinas medyo maingay kaya dun nag-enjoy ako,” she shared.
The TV host also said that spending time alone is also part of the moving on process for her.
“I think part siya talaga ng personality ko kasi very introspective ako na tao and kahit ano man mangyari sa buhay ko talagang ni-re-reflect ko kung ano yung purpose ni Lord for me in everything that’s happening. So malaking tulong sa akin yung pagpunta ko sa New York. Talagang nakahanap ako ng peace and quiet dun and kumbaga parang nawala yung stress ko eh. Nung pumunta ako dun iniwan ko lahat ng trabaho dito. Tapos nag-enjoy lang ako. Naalala ko yung feeling na para akong bata ulit at dini-discover ko yung mundo,” she admitted.
Although she is aware of the recent rumors linking her ex-boyfriend Robi to Sandara Park, Gretchen does not seem affected by the issue.
“Ang dami kasing nangyayari sa amin na hindi alam ng mga tao sa labas. So that’s why we choose to keep quiet. Kasi maraming mga bagay na personal na kaming dalawa lang nakakaintindi, kaming dalawa lang nakakaalam kung nasaan kami. So sa nakikita naman namin that’s why we choose to separate kasi it’s helping us both grow as people,” she said.
When asked if she is now open to dating and meeting someone new, the Umagang Kay Ganda host laughs before thinking of her answer. “I think darating naman yun kung darating na. Si Lord na bahala,” she added.
