Jake Cuenca says he is ready to go back to triathlon after his accident

043017-Jake_PUSH.jpgAfter getting into an accident last March which resulted in an operation that involved inserting five screws into his hand, Jake Cuenca said he is looking forward to competing in triathlons again. “I’m better. A lot better. Five screws yung linagay,” he shared.

The 29-year-old actor said that even after the accident which happened while he was training on his bike in Pasay city, he never really fully stopped training.

Although he has always been into sports mainly football, Jake admitted he only seriously trained for triathlon after being offered a part in the series. “Ang ganda ng opportunidad eh. May show ka tapos may opportunity ka to make a lifestyle change. So I took the challenge. As in ni hindi nga ako marunong lumangoy.

As he reunites with Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu in Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin, Jake said he looks forward to being the third party again. Sobrang saya. It’s never a dull moment on the set. Kasi nagsimula ako sa ABS-CBN sila na katrabaho ko and to see them evolve, even si Coleen (Garcia) sa Pasion De Amor, to see them all evolve this way nakakatuwa. Masaya din ako kasi this time around, naaalala niyo naman siguro yung ginawa ko sa Ikaw Lamang (laughs) so at least this time naiba yung dynamics namin dito. Saka na-enjoy ko. I always enjoy working with Kim. Tinawagan ko si Gerald a few weeks ago and I said, ‘If I had the choice kung saan ako puwede ilagay na ibang show or whatever, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m happy that I’m supporting Gerald in this project and I’m happy that I’m going to be the villain in this project. I’m very happy with this show. At saka sobrang bait ng lahat ng tao,” he explained.

After being Gerald’s onscreen rival since Sana Maulit Muli and Tayong Dalawa, Jake said he looks forward to explosive scenes with him again in ILAI. “For me Gerald brings out the best in me. Kasi when he goes to the set I know he’s going to give a 100% and sa lahat ng tagumpay namin we’ve always been supportive of each other. Yung difference nito at saka nung iba (naming projects together) it extends further than the set eh. Aside from acting, we’re also doing triathlon talaga. And Gerald does really well in triathlon so he pushes me to be faster, to be stronger. So nag-e-extend siya further than the set,” he admitted.
