Judy Ann Santos also explains why she parted ways with longtime manager Alfie Lorenzo last year.
After years of a rumored rift with her longtime manager Alfie Lorenzo, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo formally announced to the press at her Bet On Your Baby season 3 presscon that they had already parted ways since last year. “We’ve talked last year in August. Pumunta ako sa bahay niya. It was a very, very proper discussion and conversation. I was with my brother. Nagpaalam ako ng maayos kasi malaki yung utang na loob ko kay tito Alfie at yung utang na loob na yun hindi yun mapapalitan ng kahit na anong halaga. Alam naman natin yan. It’s not a professional… it’s just really a professional decision that I had to make because Tito Alfie is not just a professional manager. He is family,” she said during the Bet On Your Baby presscon held last April 26 inside the ABS-CBN compound.
Although the 38-year-old actress did not want to go into details about how Alfie Lorezo reacted to her decision, she explained personal issues were not the reason she ultimately decided to leave his management. “Hindi ko puwede ikuwento eh. Paano ko ba siya i-e-explain? Basta nagpaalam ako ng maayos sa kanya, yun yung importante. Walang sigawan na nangyari, wala. Of course may iyak, may iyak sa part ko kasi may lungkot. Pero wala yung batuhan, walang ganung drama. It was a proper conversation. Yung pagpapaalam ko maayos. Kumbaga tinuring ko siyang professional na aspeto kaya pinuntahan ko siya, nag-set ako ng meeting sa kanya kasi ayoko siya bastusin bilang inalagaan naman niya ako ng ilang mahabang panahon. It’s just that it’s time to move on because it’s a different dynamic already. Iba na,” she explained.
Even though she has let go of her manager of more than two decades, Juday said she is still getting advice from people in the industry that she trusts. “A new management team meaning it’s just me. I decide for myself, kumbaga nag-iba na yung nagaganap ngayon. It’s my decision kasi since having a family my focus now really is my family. Whatever I do now, whatever projects I accept, it’s my family I consider first. So I think it’s about time na I have to decide for myself,” she explained.
The Bet On Your Baby host said she is up to the challenge of making decisions for her career at this stage in her life. “Iba din naman kasi malaking responsibility din siya ha. Marami ka dapat i-consider but it’s a power that you have to know how to handle properly because if not puwede ka malunod sa isang basong tubig ng power eh and ayoko siyang gawin so it’s a team, it’s not just one person. It’s a team that consists of Mary Jane (Buencamino, her longtime road manager), nag-ko-confide ako kay mother Biboy (Arboleda), nakikipag-usap ako kay tita Cory (Vidanes), kay tatay Lauren (Dyogi). It’s a group so it’s not just one. And I think sa situation ko ngayon, huwag natin pag-usapan yung dalaga pa ako, iba yung ngayon and it works better for me na it’s like this,” she shared.
Juday also shared how she felt about Sarah Geronimo’s relationship with Matteo Guidicelli which has become more visible now. “I’m so happy for her. She’s 27 and I think it’s just right na ma-enjoy niya yung puso niya. Ma-enjoy yung buhay niya, ma-enjoy niya ang lahat ng meron siya ngayon. Lahat naman tayo nag-e-evolve. Lahat naman tayo may learnings and at lahat naman tayo may realizations. Hindi kami nakakapag-usap much lately but I see that she’s very happy and I’m happy pag nakikita kong happy silang dalawa. Deserve naman nilang maging masaya and kitang kita ko naman kung gaano ka-puro ang intensyon nila sa isa’t isa so I wish them well,” she said.
