EXCLUSIVE: Kiana Valenciano shares Sam Concepcion’s musical advice for her

It is not only because her songs have been earning commendations from Filipino listeners but also because she has finally stepped into the industry she has always known. As she carves her own path as a musician, Kiana takes inspiration from her dad Gary Valenciano’s dedication to his craft.

“In terms of the music production he has a very huge influence because I mean my dad has produced some of the most iconic songs in the industry so I trust his judgment and I trust the standards he has laid out for me which is very hard then I have to kind of live up to that,” she said in an interview with PUSH at the relaunching of the Center for Aesthetic Studies.

The singer revealed that she decided to give music a shot because it has always been part of her life. She confessed though that fashion was her first love but she realized the time has come to explore the music industry.

“I have a huge space in my heart for fashion but since the opportunities of music are here now, I might as well take advantage of that,” she relayed.

She also revealed that for the past two years, she has been very inspired to write songs. “So I might as well do that if it is something I love as well, it makes me happy,” she affirmed.

Kiana shared her writing process has been influenced by various factors. “Sometimes it is inspired by personal experience, sometimes it is inspired by something I heard from my friends, sometimes I am even inspired by other songs. I try my best to take inspiration from everywhere not just from myself.”

As a newcomer, Kiana also asked advice from her boyfriend Sam Concepcion, who practically grew up in the industry. “He just always tells me to make sure that I am happy with what I am doing ‘cause mahirap eh if you aren’t happy so what it’s for so I think the best advice that he has given me is to make sure that I am happy and I continue to be myself,” she stated.
