Kris Aquino announced that she is set to sign a contract with a major Hollywood studio. The television host and actress revealed that she is flying to Los Angeles, California to meet her agent Chris Lee and finalize the process of her very first international movie.
On her Instagram post, Kris recounted the process she went through in order to achieve this milestone in her career. She narrated how after the rejections she experienced that “broke” her spirit, the opportunity to audition for the movie came knocking at her door.
“There were 2 shows I lost because hiring an Aquino for TV was a political risk not worth taking... But something happened March 23, 2017- a Tony & Grammy award winning Broadway producer, Jhett Tolentino contacted me through Cong. Len Alonte and Manang Nene Chan. He was helping a Filipino-Chinese-American agent friend of his reach me to ask if I'd want to audition for a big Hollywood studio movie about to start filming,” she shared.
She wrote there was pressure considering that she needed to submit her reel in 72 hours but she felt she had nothing to lose so she gave it a shot. “48 hrs after Jhett's call, on March 25 we mounted an audition shoot in Manila Peninsula,” she wrote. After her audition scenes and video BIO were shot, edited, and color graded by her team, they sent the high definition material the next day. “And we waited. And PRAYED,” she said. She relayed that she passed five levels of intense scrutiny before she was offered a role.
Kris is still overwhelmed by the fact that she will be part of the still undisclosed Hollywood project. “It is surreal to be reading the script from a major Hollywood studio watermarked on every page with my name. I signed a non disclosure agreement so until they reveal my participation I can't share any details about the movie & my role,” she wrote.
She prays that her story will give encouragement and hope to many people. “I am proof that in life doors will shut & there will be heartbreaking setbacks but FAITH in God's plan will open new, unexpected doors,” she said.
