Erik Santos says he’s open to future directing gigs

030917-Erik.jpgFor the first time, singer Erik Santos is writing and directing his own concert titled, Powerhouse 2: Erik Santos Sings The Greatest OPM Classics.

This will be held on April 7 at The Theater at Solaire Resort and Casino.

Saying that he already has a background in working behind-the-scenes as he used to direct school plays when he was in high school, Erik said that he only had the guts to write and direct a production now.

“Matagal ko ng gustong gawin ito and ngayon ako nabigyan ng pagkakataon with the help of Lucky 7 Koi (producers) and Cornerstone Entertainment,” he told reporters after his concert press conference on Wednesday, March 8.

According to Erik, he has a hand even in his concert’s little details. “Unang-una sa lahat, dapat alam mo ‘yung market mo and ako kasi, kumbaga alam ko ‘yung market ko so alam ko kung ano ‘yung ibibigay ko sa kanila,” he said, adding that he wants to reintroduce the beauty of OPM songs.

As for his future directing plans, Erik said, “Tatapusin ko muna ‘to and kapag maganda, at saka ako magbibigay ng dream project ko.”

But will he be willing to direct other people like Angeline Quinto who was romantically linked to him?

“Oo naman. Mas madaling makatrabaho ‘yung mga malalapit sa puso mo.”

He is also open to be the director to his close friends, Yeng Constantino and Sarah Geronimo.

Likewise, Erik is also open to become a show’s director, instead of the performer this time as this is a different kind of experience for him.

Now on his 14th year in the industry, Erik said that he hopes for career longevity.

“Mahirap ‘yan ngayon, eh. Lalo sa industriya natin, people come and go, di ba? Madaming singing contests, madaming mga produkto ng mga singing contests, mas magagaling, mga dekalibre kumbaga lalo na sa Tawag ng Tanghalan. And, all I want now is longevity, syempre with the help of my manager, of my home network, ABS-CBN and ‘yung mga supporters ko.”
