Brillante Mendoza bags Best Director award in Malaysia


030617-Brillantes1.jpgBrillante Mendoza has added another achievement on his list by taking home the Best Director trophy at the 2017 Malaysia Global Awards for his film Ma’ Rosa.

It may be recalled that Brillante’s highly-acclaimed film also earned him the same award at the 54th Gijon International Film Festival.

Aside from Brillante, Philippine-Malaysian film Singing in Graveyards also bagged the Best Film award from the same award-giving body.

Singing in Graveyards, by Malaysian-born and Manila-based director Bradley Liew features highly-regarded director Lav Diaz and award-winning actress Mercedes Cabral.

The Malaysia Golden Global Awards was established in 2016. It aims to promote Malaysia's film, art and culture while recognizing excellent Asian films and filmmakers.
