Piolo Pascual feels honored about being tapped as the newest ambassador of the government agency Optical Media Board (OMB).
The organization is responsible for spearheading anti-piracy campaigns in the local entertainment industry.
"It's a privilege. It's an opportunity to exercise your celebrity [status] and use it for the right reasons,” said Piolo in an interview after the press conference of his new movie Northern Lights opposite Yen Santos and Raikko Matteo.
The hunky actor is grateful to be part of an advocacy that doesn’t require any payment.
“You belong to the cinema, you belong to the entertainment industry, so best foot forward,” he said.
“And at the same time, you can use your influence to spread the cause. 'Di ba? So malaking karangalan sa'kin 'yun bilang artista," Piolo continued.
What would be his role in the organization?
"My role as an ambassador is to create awareness, of course... I believe in what the agency stands for which is anti-piracy, be it for TV, music and cinema. So 'yun lang ang pinaka-battle cry natin," he added.
Piolo’s latest movie Northern Lights will hit theaters starting March 29.
