Pia Wurtzbach plays a special role in the newest season of the model reality show.
At the launch of the fifth season of the model reality show Asia’s Next Top Model, special guest Pia Wurtzbach said she was happy to meet the new batch of hopefuls from all over Asia. “This year they weren’t kidding when they said expect the unexpected and you know what I’ll just keep it at that. It’s a great season and I’m sure everyone will love it,” she shared during the ANTM press preview held last March 29 in Taguig city.
Out of 14 contestants, there are three representatives from the Philippines who will compete this year. 18-year-old Fil-German Maureen Wroblewitz admitted Pia inspired her to be more confident. “I was so excited. When I saw her, I couldn’t even speak; I was speechless. She was more of a mentor and we always had videos of her telling us to stay positive and that we could do it. She was really helpful. She told us that we really have to save our energy and reflect on yourself whenever you have a photo shoot that’s when you use all of your energy and the tips she gave us really made us feel confident,” she shared.
Another contestant is 22-year-old Angelica Santillan who has been a model for four years. She shared the same sentiments about Pia’s presence on the show. “She’s really nice and then nagbibigay siya ng advice to you about competition because she’s been in a competition like everyone knows that,” she added,
Fashion blogger turned model Jennica Sanchez shared how Pia helped her get over being conscious about her height on the show. “Working with Pia was sobrang nakaka-star struck talaga siya actually. And sobrang bait niya sa aming lahat. Walang bias sa Filipina, as in lahat pantay pantay. Lagi niya akong pinagtatanggol doon kasi ako yung isa sa pinakamaliit, dalawa kaming pinakamaliit na Pinay and then she told me (something) na hindi ko makakalimutan, ‘I wasn’t the tallest girl in Miss Universe pero ako yung nanalo.’ and that gave me motivation,” she admitted.
