Jona shares the story of her childhood: ‘Sobrang payak lang po talaga ng pamumuhay namin’

032717-Jona_PUSH.jpgOn Rated K, one of ASAP’s Birit Queens Jona talked about her humble beginnings as well as a family issue that had a big impact on her childhood.

Jona grew up in San Mateo, Rizal and is the eldest of three siblings. Her dad (who she inherited her vocal prowess from) was a factory worker while her mom was a housewife.

The young songstress earned additional spending money through singing contests.

She added that her father would also sell frozen goods like longganisa, hotdogs, tocino and ham.

Jona became emotional when she recalled the day her mom left their family.

It has been 10 years since Jona first entered the showbiz industry through a singing contest on television. She may be starting now, again. Pero start na andoon na. Sa kabila kasi, she’s a big star na there already at that time. Tapos sa atin dito nag-aadjust pa yan. Pero lalaban yan.”

Jona also admitted she’s feeling a bit nervous about her upcoming concert with fellow Birit Queens Angeline Quinto, Klarisse De Guzman and Morisette Amon.

However, Jona said she will prepare to deliver a great performance. “Nakaka-relieve naman po na siyempre nakikita na yung mga tao po ay napapasaya namin through our singing.”
