Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) member Mocha Uson has been suspended from her commentary program in radio station DZRH.
DZRH personnel told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Mocha is on “indefinite suspension” after listeners complained about her comments against Vice President Leni Robredo.
A staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, she called the Vice President “fake” and an “idiot.” Mocha also addressed the media and said, “’Ito namang mga lokal na presstitutes natin puro pera ang iniisip kaysa sa kapakanan ng bayan…’”
Complainant Jozy Acosta-Nisperos, head of the civil society group The Silent Majority, pointed out the broadcasting rules that Mocha violated.
“May we point out that, in the 2007 Broadcast Code of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), Uson is liable of having violated certain sections:
“Article 2. ANALYSIS AND COMMENTARIES
“Sec. 2. Public affairs programs and commentaries shall be handled only by persons who have thorough knowledge of and practice broadcast ethics.
“Sec. 4. Public affairs programs shall strive to elicit responsible views on public issues, concerns and events from all sectors of society.
“May we also raise the point of whether Uson has a professional broadcaster’s license?”
On the other hand, Mocha addressed the issue on her Facebook page.
“Opo totoo ang balita na ako po ay na suspended sa DZRH dahil sa video na ito. Naintindihan ko po ang desisyon ng DZRH News Television dahil meron silang pamantayan na sinusunod bilang isang miyembro ng KBP. Gayun pa man ang boses ng ordianryong [sic] Pilipino ay patuloy kong isisgaw dito sa ating Blog. Maraming Salamat,” she wrote.
Just this week, Mocha backed out of a speaking engagement with the Philippine Army’s Senior Leaders’ Conference (SLC) after she suffered backlash online after posting the invite on her social media accounts. A source later told Philippine Daily Inquirer that the invitation for Mocha was actually recalled after the army bosses became displeased that Mocha posted the said invitation online.
