Despite the long wait, Angel Locsin won’t be flying again in the big screen as Darna.
ABS-CBN, Star Cinema and Angel Locsin, in a statement released by ABS-CBN’s Integrated Corporate Communications pision on Monday evening, have “mutually arrived at a final decision that she will no longer pursue Darna movie due to her medical condition.”
The statement noted that Angel was given “enough support during and after her treatment” so as to be able to reprise the role of the iconic Filipino heroine.
While training for the movie after her surgery and therapy for the disc bulge, Angel, suffered back pain twice.
According to the statement, this incident prompted her doctor “to advise her not to participate in strenuous activities to avoid permanent damage on her spine.”
Although Angel won’t be reprising the role any longer, the statement revealed that she is set to work on other projects soon.
“Like a special role in La Luna Sangre with John Lloyd Cruz, a movie with James Reid and Coco Martin and a teleserye,” the statement read.
La Luna Sangre is the third installment of the Imortal series which would be headlined by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. Reports have it that the soap is starting this coming April.
