Jameson Blake shares what boosted his confidence after doing the movie ‘2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten.’
As part of the coming-of-age film which was originally part of the most recent batch of Cinema One Originals 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten, Hashtag member Jameson Blake said he was glad to be part of a project that gave him his first acting award from the same indie film festival. Jameson brought home a Best Supporting Actor trophy.
“Siyempre before I got the award siyempre wala pa akong teleserye nun, wala akong movie, 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten is my first movie. After I got this award, it really helped me big time. It gave me more confidence pag go-sees and everything. Ngayon may soap na ako and a movie din. It really help me to be motivated and it really boosted my confidence,” he shared.
One of the most talked-about scenes in the movie was a masturbation scene which Jameson says was not really a big deal especially to him and his family. He said he just casually mentioned it to his parents who were both understanding and supportive of his career. “Kasi yung masturbation scene I asked our director what was the purpose of that scene because it was my first movie and I want to pull it off ng maayos. I didn’t want to overthink it. Ginawa ko and I pulled it off,” he recalled.
Now on its commercial release under Star Cinema, 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten tells the story of an unconventional friendship between high school boys that are still on the way to discover their sexual identities.
Jameson said he personally does not judge whom to love based on gender. “Well for me it depends on how you were raised and like what kind of family (you came from). I’m 19 now but based on experience I started to realize that it doesn’t really matter about the gender, just as long as you’re comfortable being with them and they’re fun to be with. There doesn’t have to be a barrier between that. It doesn’t really matter so I think it’s possible naman to fall for the same gender,” he explained.
Growing up in Pampanga and abroad, Jameson said he can relate to his Fil-Am character. “I was born in Hong Kong and raised there for 10 years. Tapos after 10 years I came to the Philippines. I lived in Pampanga siguro for eight years lang. Yung mom ko kapampangan at saka yung stepdad ko kapampangan din. So I know how the environment goes, I understand and speak it. So I can really relate to the character, he came from the States. I’m half-American but I’m from Hong Kong but I can relate how he came from different places coming to a different community. I kind of felt how si Maxim gusto niya umalis sa Philippines kasi that’s how I felt at first. So I didn’t really have a hard time trying to portray my role sa 2 Cool. I can really relate to my character,” he said.
