Rihanna given Harvard University’s Humanitarian of the Year Award

<p></p><p><img src='' alt='030117-Rihanna_PUSH.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>Grammy Award-winning singer Rihanna was honored by Harvard University on Tuesday, February 28 (US time) for her humanitarian efforts in her native country Barbados. </p><p>Unknown to many, the popstar has built a state-of-the-art oncology and nuclear medicine center to diagnose and treat breast cancer. </p><p> “Rihanna has charitably built a state-of- the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” said S. Allen Counter, the Harvard Foundation’s director.</p><p>During her speech, Rihanna, who was a high school dropout, said she was very happy to be at the Ivy League school. </p><p>“So I made it to Harvard…never thought I’d be able to say that in my life. But it feels good,” she said amidst cheers from the crowd. </p><p>She also added, “You don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian. You don’t have to be rich to help somebody. You don’t have to even be college-educated.
