Birit Queens member Jona couldn’t help but gush about the swift and packed first year that she had with ABS-CBN.
Jona marked her first year as a Kapamilya with a bang by launching her first self-titled album under Star Music.
The album, which has eight tracks including originals and remakes, also features her duet with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.
“Actually matagal ko ng request na sana makasama ko naman ang Asia’s Songbird sa isang special project like sa isang album,” she began during her recent album launch.
The singer even shared that the seasoned performer is very proud of her recent milestones in ABS-CBN.
“Ang sinasabi niya sakin palagi sobrang masaya siya para sa akin dahil sa tagal ng taon na nagsama kami sa GMA, ang wini-wish nga niya sa akin… na sana mas marinig ako ng mas maraming tao, which ngayon eh nangyayari na,” she said.
Since transferring to the network and adopting a new name, Jona said she has noticed a couple of changes in her musicality.
“Mas nag-modernize ang Jona. So merong mga songs na pang-millennials para po hindi lang ang mature audience ang maka-relate sa akin, kundi pati ang younger ones,” she shared.
Jona recalls that the year flew by so fast with her fulfilling a number of firsts.
“Like ‘yung pagsali ko sa Himig Handog kasi dati wini-wish ko lang na sana maka-interpret naman ako ng mga songwriting competitions na kanta,” she said.
“Tapos napasali ako sa album ng MMK. Napasali po ako sa ASAP Live in New York and being in ASAP and nakasama ko ang mga kasamahan ko sila Angeline [Quinto], Klarisse [de Guzman], Morissette and sila Sarah [Geronimo] and sila Sir Martin [Nievera] and Sir Gary [Valenciano],” Jona continued.
The singer also noted her first time to go to Spain for the MMK: Kwentuhang Kapamilya, as well as her first time to attend the Star Magic Ball.
Apart from her album, which is set to come out in music stores starting March 3, Jona is also slated to be part of the Birit Queens concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on March 31.
