Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid talked about his daughter Leila who just moved from Australia to the Philippines this year.
According to the Tawag ng Tanghalan judge, Leila is currently taking workshops under ABS-CBN’s talent agency Star Magic. She will also be going to school but will take a yearlong break first.
As his daughter is taking the route to becoming a celebrity, Ogie advised her to just enjoy things. Saying that Leila is determined, he shared that his daughter is taking Tagalog lessons.
“Nagulat ako na mahilig pala siya mag-artista. Ang laging sinasabi niya, ‘Gusto ko maging lawyer, ganito, ganyan.’ Kumakanta-kanta siya siyempre sa school, gano’n. But, siyempre iba sa Australia, di ba? Hindi naman sila artista doon. Pero nagulat ako in a good way. Sabi nga ni Michelle (Van Eimeren, Leila’s mother), ‘time mo na ‘yan magkaroon kayo ng magandang relationship’… Of course, nagpupunta ako ‘dun. Pero iba ‘yung tatay ka talaga na nandoon,” he narrated, adding that Leila also saw her paternal grandparents and wants to have a relationship with them.
Likewise, Ogie talked about how he is as a father to Leila.
“Alam mo, tinatry kong hindi maging strict pero lumalabas, eh. Natatawa naman siya sa akin. Siguro tinatiming-an lang niya ako. Kasi meron din naman siyang mga friends dito na lalaki, di ba? Tapos sasabihin, ‘Can we have dinner?’ ‘Dinner? Bakit kayo magdidinner? Friend mo ‘yan na matagal? Dito kayo magdinner sa bahay. Maghahanda ako.’ Tapos hindi na darating ‘yung lalaki,” he laughingly shared.
“One time, lumabas siya… Sabi ko, ‘Sige, sige. Sama kami.’ Sumama kami. ‘Dun kami sa kabilang club,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Ogie is all set for his Valentine’s Day concert with comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas and singer Erik Santos. Their concert titled, #HugotPlaylist will be held at the Kia Theater on the night of February 14.
