Jessy Mendiola hopes to be able to design clothes for other stars in the future.
Jessy Mendiola is once again checking off another item on her bucket list as she fulfills her dream of studying fashion design.
In an exclusive interview with Jessy, she revealed that she's currently covering the basics with a fundamentals of patternmaking course at the Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship Fashion and Design.
"Matagal ko na pong pangarap makagawa ng mga damit. Pero wala lang po akong lakas ng loob gawin at matuto," she said.
"Ngayon lang po ako nagkaroon ng courage to try something new, sakto napadaan ako sa school one day kaya feeling ko po meant to be," she continued.
The Banana Sundae star added that portraying her fashion designer character Grace, on her previous primetime soap You're My Home also played a huge part in piquing her interest for fashion.
"I've attended two classes palang. I just started last week," she said.
The length of her course, according to Jessy, depends on the student's visible improvement.
"If mabilis ka matuto, you can move on to sewing na," she shared.
How has the experience been so far?
I've learned how to measure well and make drafts too. There's a bit of math involved so medyo tricky sa simula," she said.
Jessy underscored that she's having a lot of fun with the course and that "Para siyang nagiging stress reliever para sa akin."
Since she's finally a step closer to fulfilling her dream, Jessy revealed that she also hopes to go big in fashion in the future.
"Yes I would love to build my own atelier or maybe design clothes for other artists, too," Jessy said. "If given a chance, I want to pursue it all the way. If time permits, I would study abroad, too."
In the end, Jessy maintained that although she's slowly making another dream a reality, her love for the local entertainment industry remains.
"No naman. I just want to learn something else so I could grow sa personal life ko. Dream ko talaga gumawa ng mga damit dati pa. Why not di ba? Sayang naman ang chance," she said when asked if her foray into fashion would mean her showbiz career takes a backseat for now.
