Liza Soberano talks about the pressure to always look picture perfect.
As one of the most beautiful faces in the country today, Liza Soberano surprised the media during an exclusive Maybelline meet-and-greet event where she willingly talked more about her insecurities. "You know there are times when you just do’t feel your best. You wake up and you look at yourself in the mirror and you see your reflection. I’m sure everybody can relate to that especially us women we’re full of insecurity most of the time and yes I do feel the pressure to look beautiful all the time because people kind of put that on me like it’s kind of attached to me for some reason. And I do feel like whenever I go out, I do have the need to look my best but sometimes you just can’t pull it off especially if that time you’re going through something and you just don’t feel your best. But as long as you have a good set of people around you to make you happy of course it will also show. It will register sa face mo. And of course with the help of makeup as well,” she said during the #MakeItHappenWithLiza presscon held last February 18 in Quezon city.
The 19-year-old actress said the pressure to always be camera-ready has been there since she entered showbiz about six years ago. "Of course there is pressure because I’m seen on TV. A lot of people look up to me. People also kind of grow confidence from you. I’m supposed to empower women to feel confident and beautiful about themselves but sometimes when you don’t feel beautiful how do you encourage them to do that di ba? But I just try to remind myself why I started in the first place. I have my bestest friends, my father, my brother, everybody to boost my self-confidence so I do use makeup when I go out so that I can feel beautiful,” she admitted.
The newest Maybelline beauty ambassador says she would be the first to admit all her body’s imperfections. "What makes me insecure? A lot of things like my weight sometimes. Seriously this is a true thing because the camera tends to make you look bigger so sometimes I feel bigger than most of the other girls on TV. When I’m on my period especially, when I see pretty girls I feel like I’m not as pretty as them or like other international artists or models, they look beautiful and perfect and you just feel like, ‘Why am I not like them?’ Sa face ko I find my eyes imperfect because siyempre lahat naman tayo hindi pantay o hindi sobrang symmetrical yung face. Sometimes when I gain weight nag-bo-bloat yung face ko so it’s hard to cover that up especially if you’re shooting a movie. Sa body ko naman I have really wide hips so that is one thing I’m insecure about,” she shared.
When it comes to her inspirations when it comes to beauty, Liza admitted she has one favorite American actress. "My number one beauty icon would have to be Audrey Hepburn. She’s a timeless classic beauty. She’s beautiful inside and out kasi so she’s someone I think everyone should look up to,” she said.
The Fil-American stunner also gave some advice for those who have encountered criticism about how they look. "Don’t let anybody put you down. Always see to your happiness first before anyone else and if that’s what makes you confident and that’s what your comfortable with then push through with it. Don’t let anything stop you to make it happen,” she added.
