Returning to the Metro Manila Film Festival this year with his film entry Meant To Beh, Vic Sotto said he is looking forward to being part of the festival that will bring joy to millions of Filipinos starting Christmas day. “Excited ako makabalik sa MMFF. Isang taon din naming hinintay ito, kaya nagbabalik kami ng may baong magandang handog para sa lahat. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng hindi bumitiw at nag-abang sa pagbabalik namin sa MMFF. Salamat sa suportang natatanggap namin hindi lang dito sa bansa kundi sa ibang parte na rin ng mundo,” he told PUSH.
With a career that has spanned more than four decades, Vic said his secret to longevity is simple and straightforward. “Sipag at tiyaga. I think those two things are essential to forming the kind of artist I am today. Pero more than that, I can proudly say na sa haba ng itinagal ko sa showbiz, tunay kong minahal ang trabaho ko, mga fans, at lahat ng mga produkto at kumpanyang sumusuporta sa akin. Lagi kong ibiniballik sa kanila ng buo—o higit pa—ang tiwala at pagtangkilik nila sa akin,” he said.
As one of the most popular endorsers in the country, the 63-year-old actor said he always wants to keep it real. “I am a testament to the good use and value of the products that I endorse. Nasabi ko yun kasi I only sign up with brands and companies na totoo kong pinagkakatiwalaan. Among them is CitiGlobal, which empowers the ordinary Filipino and hardworking OFWs na mabigyan ng magandang tirahan ang kanilang pamilya. I believe in their advocacies, so I am more than willing to help them whenever I can. At yung mutual trust and respect na yung between me and the products I endorse ang nagpapatagal sa samahan namin,” he explained.
Among all his blessings this year, Vic said nothing can top his baby Talitha Maria Luna Sotto with Pauleen Luna-Sotto. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa Panginoon na binigyan Niya ako ng pagkakataon na maging isang mabuting Tatay muli. At my age, having her is truly a blessing—one of the highlights of my life,” he said.
Vic said he wants his youngest daughter to grow up with a dad who is both strict and cool. “Siyempre gusto ko na makilala ako ng anak ko tulad ng kung paano niyo ako nakilala—masayahin, kwela, palatawa. At the same time, gusto ko din maging ‘saktong strikto’ sa kanya. Yung magtuturo sa kanya kung anong mga tama at mali base na rin sa lahat ng natutunan ko sa buhay,” he added.
Off-camera, the veteran comedian said he is basically the same guy in person. “Basically there’s not much of a difference on and off camera especially on Eat Bulaga. Mas madaldal lang ako ng konti when on camera. On the big screen, I play the role that I am given,” he said.
In the MMFF entry Meant To Beh, Vic plays the role of dutiful husband Ron who pretends that all is well with his marriage for the sake of his children.
