Bea Alonzo on making her first horror film ‘Eerie’: ‘Sobrang scared ako sa project!’

Even though she chose to focus on her television series A Love to Last this year instead of making movies, Bea Alonzo said she is excited to finally be making her very first horror film Eerie with young director Mikhail Red. “I’m very excited kasi first time ko gagawa ng ganitong klaseng pelikula, ganitong genre, horror and of course I will be working with Ma’am Charo (Santos) so it’s a totally new experience for me. Actually it scares me. Pero magandang gumagawa ng mga bagay that scares you. Baka may matutunan,” she shared during the Eerie story conference held last December 11 inside the ABS-CBN compound.

In the new horror murder mystery, Bea plays the role of a guidance counselor and psychologist who will represent science in the story which will be the cause of conflict. In reality, Bea said she is probably not as fearless as her onscreen persona. “Alam mo sa totoo lang matatakutin talaga ako to tell you honestly, kaya sobrang scared ako sa project na ito but of course I’m willing to take the challenge. But hindi talaga ako masyadong nanunuod ng horror films. Pero a film is a film, a story us a story. It doesn’t really follow kung anong genre as long as na-draw ka dun sa isang storya and I am very curious to discover kung paano mag-u-unfold itong pelikulang ito,” she admitted.

With the film scheduled to start shooting in March next year, Bea said they will be undergoing a series of acting workshops in preparation as well as having an acting coach present on the set. Bea couldn’t deny that she felt some pressure sharing the screen with veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio. “There is (pressure) but I try not to think about it or else doon lahat ng energy ko pupunta (laughs). Siyempre dahil pinapanuod ko yung mga pelikula ni Ma’am Charo, sobrang mataas yung tingin ko kay Ma’am Charo, feeling ko natural na gusto mo siyang i-impress each time but parang kailangan ko ata labanan yung mga ganung moments because of course as actors dapat mag-focus kami on characterization,” she said.
