Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017 Katarina Rodriguez will be competing in the Miss Intercontinental 2017 to be held in Sri Lanka on December 21.
To prepare for this, she has been devoting time to undergo training. “Every morning, I work out. I’ve been eating properly during my walking, training, and then of course, meeting with all the different designers for my wardrobe for the pageant,” she said in an interview with PUSH during MEGA Fashion Week.
Although she still has a few weeks left before she leaves the country early next month, she said she is already very excited. “I can feel it na like not naman pressure, stress, it’s more of like, I want to be there already. Like how much more can I prepare? I feel very, very prepared. And I’ve talked to some of the other girls, we have a WhatsApp group so we’re all friendly, yeah.”
When asked if she feels any pressure, she said, “I don’t have time to feel pressured. I really don’t have time because if I let the stress or the worry come about, then most of my focus will be on that as opposed to my training. I’m also the last girl (to compete this year) so may konti na pressure kasi you see each girl compete... And you know, sana they all win, right? They all hit first place. They all bring home the crown. But then if not, it’s like all eyes on me so we’ll see though.”
Talking about her strategy in the question and answer portion, Katarina proudly said that it’s her strength. “The question and answer portion, that’s my forte. I took up philosophy in La Salle and that helps a lot. I think it comes very natural for me to answer the Q & A.”
Aside from training for it, she believes that reading helps a lot. “I’ve just been reading a lot. I think reading is really the best thing I can do para I have the stock knowledge. And I also ask my friends, my grandfather, my family, their opinions and what they believe in. They’re different perspectives, all the different scenarios happening around the world so at least I have a different outlook on every situation.”
