Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado on daughter Jayda: ‘Mas magaling sa amin na artist yun!’

As they gear up to celebrate their 20th and 30th anniversary in showbiz respectively, real life couple Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado said they are happy to be performing with a live orchestra along with their special guests  Ogie Alcasid, Xian Lim, Jason Dy, Angeline Quinto, Klarisse De Guzman, Lloyd Zaragoza, and their only daughter Jayda Avanzado. “It’s about our journey and it’s kind of like a legacy concert so to speak because we will be singing yung mga songs namin, we’ll be showcasing how we’ve grown as entertainers,” Dingdong shared during the 20/30 concert presscon held last November 23 at Resorts World Manila in Pasay city.

Dingdong said he always looks forward to sharing the stage with other talented artists. “It’s interesting in this show kasi we will be collaborating with the new generation of artists. That’s also something that we want to showcase and them singing some of our songs, something like that. All in all it’s going to be a fun-filled evening and something that we hope that a lot of people who haven’t seen us will really like the concert,” he added.

During the presscon, Jessa did not hesitate to declare how talented their daughter is. “Mas magaling sa amin na artist yun (laughs). She plays the piano, the guitar. Marami akong natutunan talaga sa kanya. Para sa mga ilan sa mga songs na gagawin ko dito sa 20/30 concert, nagpaturo talaga ako sa kanya. Lalo na pag English nabubulol ako talaga eh sa yung mga phrasing. Parang sa totoong buhay kami yung parents siya yung anak. Pero as an artist parang pantay lang yata (laughs),” she admitted.

The celebrity couple said they want Jayda to fully realize her potential in music. “It’s good that she also took up the passion for music. I’m not saying that it’s easier because it’s still raising a child but you still have to draw a line kasi sometimes we treat each other as friends or barkada lang. But there are moments that she has to know that you’re still the parent. Part of our parenting style is that we make sure that we are in touch with our daughter. With her music nakatutok kami sa kanya because Jada is the future and we see her passion for music. As parents it is part of our responsibility to raise her the best possible way and for her to become the best that she can be. Raising a child now there are a lot of challenges talaga,” Dingdong explained.

When it comes to one day surpassing her parents’ achievements in the industry, the couple hopes Jayda will carve out her own path with her own brand of music. “We hope so. We can’t tell di ba kasi alam mo sa industriyang ito hindi enough na magaling ka eh. Maraming factors diyan, timing din. So we’re hoping and we’re praying na tangkilikin din siya and she finds her market. But as far as musicality is concerned, she’s far better than the two of us honestly,” he said.

Watch Dingdong and Jessa’s 20/30 The Anniversary Concert on December 8, Friday, at 8 pm at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila.
