Myrtle Sarrosa was launched the 2018 calendar girl of local liquor brand Ginebra San Miguel. The actress turned emotional as she expressed her gratitude for her latest endorsement.
“Sobrang grateful ko na ako ‘yung pinili nila kasi ang daming mga big names na previously naging calendar girl for Ginebra so ‘nung tinanong nga nila ako, hindi pa ako una makapaniwala. Pero, I challenged myself to accept it kasi I know that they’re one of the premiere brands in the country and I really want to represent it,” she told members of the press after the launching.
When asked about her preparations, Myrtle said that she lost a lot of weight for this. She then turned emotional as she opened up about her personal struggles with her career.
“Right after graduating, unsure ako sa kung ano ‘yung darating sa career ko. ‘Di ko alam kung ano ba talaga–magpupursue ba ako ng showbiz kasi after kong grumaduate, akala ko talaga, ‘di ko alam kung anong susunod para sa akin. Pero grateful ako na right after I graduated, pinili ako ng Ginebra.
“Ang tagal ko talagang nagprepare for this one so ang dami kong days na nagdecide ako na hindi ako magpapatempt sa pagkain (at gusto kong) mag-work out,” she added.
Myrtle also revealed that this uncertainty in her showbiz career is what made her decide to finish her studies. Myrtle graduated Cum Laude with a degree in broadcast communication from the University of the Philippines Diliman last June.
“One of the reasons why nag-decide ako talaga na i-pursue ‘yung school kasi minsan… Parang ‘di ko na sure kung ano ba talaga ‘yung future sa’kin sa showbiz so I wanted to make sure na I still have a future, na may fallback ako,” she said, admitting her fear.
Meanwhile, Myrtle incorporated cosplay in the new calendar designs as she said she wants to target millennials.
