An ABS-CBN show finally broke into the International Emmys Kids Awards.
The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the organizing body behind the International Emmys, made the big announcement on Monday.
Wansapanataym, the country’s longest running series for children, is the only Philippine TV show that earned a nomination under the best TV movie/mini-series category in the 2017 International Emmy Kids Awards.
The Loisa Andalio and Jerome Ponce starrer episode titled "Candy's Crush” was directed by Andoy Ranay. The mini series ran from June 26 to August 7 last year.
The story revolved around Paolo (Jerome) and Candy (Loisa) after an old lady casts a spell on the former’s drink. In keeping with the usual fairytale plot, only a true love’s kiss could break the spell.
The show is set to compete against entries from The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Australia.
ABS-CBN's primetime newscast TV Patrol also bagged a nomination from the 2017 International Emmy Awards for news and current affairs in August. While Kapamilya star Zanjoe Marudo also earned a Best Performance ny an Actor nomination at the 2017 International Emmy Awards.
The winners will be announced on November 20 in New York.
Last year, Jodi Sta. Maria also received an International Emmy nomination under the Best Performance by an Actress category for her portrayal as Amor Powers in the hit remake of Pangako Sa’Yo. Primetime series Bridges of Love, meanwhile, was nominated under the Best Telenovela category.
It may be recalled that ABS-CBN previously scored other International Emmy Awards nominations for the following shows: Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Impostor (Best Telenovela) in 2011, Dahil May Isang Ikaw (Best Telenovela) in 2010 and Kahit Isang Saglit (Best Telenovela) in 2008. Kapamilya stars like Angel Locsin meanwhile, received a nomination for Lobo (Best Actress) in 2009, as well as Sid Lucero for Dahil May Isang Ikaw (Best Actor) in 2010.
