Vin Abrenica on working with ex-girlfriend Sophie Albert: ‘Nagkakaroon ng konting ilangan’

013117-VinAbrenica_PUSH.jpgAfter breaking up last year, Vin Abrenica said it was not a problem to work again with his ex-girlfriend Sophie Albert in the romantic drama Moonlight Over Baler. "Hindi kasi siguro magkakaroon ng ilangan if we separated in a way na hindi pabor sa parehong side. Yung separation kasi namin ni Sophie, alam naman niya yun na parehong desisyon namin, napag-usapan namin na kung career muna. Kahit tatanungin naman ako, I want to be the best version of myself. Tinututukan namin yung career namin. Nagkakaroon ng konting ilangan pag matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita na parang weird na yung feeling. That’s true eh kasi ex mo eh,” he shared.

Set in the 1940s, Moonlight Over Baler is the story of Nestor, a World War II soldier. Nestor was supposed to marry the love of his life Fidela, but was killed on the way. Vin admitted even the kissing scenes with Sophie were smooth-sailing because of their previous relationship which lasted almost three years. "Oo, yes. Great as always. In character naman ako at that time. Kissing scenes with Sophie are always easy. It’s always comfortable. Hindi mo iniisip kung anong gagawin mo kasi comfortable ka na sa kanya. In character ka na lang, all you have to do concentrate sa character mo. Si Sophie kapag makakatrabaho ko siya ulit, it’s always smooth and no barriers kasi it’s always comfortable working with her. If I were given the chance na makatrabaho ulit sila I would be happy about it,” he admitted.

After transferring to ABS-CBN last year, Vin admitted he is happy to feel at home. He said he has definitely become more recognizable for his own accomplishments and not just as the younger brother of Aljur. "Na-fi-feel ko na yung pagiging Kapamilya kasi tinatawag na nila ako through my name and I love it. It’s music to my ears. Dati no name eh. Usually family name Abrenica or makikita mo yung mouth na parang ako yung kapatid ni ano, ganun. Nagyon every time I hear my name it’s music to my ears. Hindi naman ako na-ba-bother in such a way kasi since birth naman lumaki kami ng sabay so I’m used to it. Pero same kasi kami ng work and iba kasi eh, your name is your endearment. Iba kapag ikaw lang ang meron nun. Pag tinawagan ka ng pangalan mo, you know it’s you. So kapag hindi ka pa tinatawag sa pangalan mo parang ang sakit di ba?” he explained.

Growing up with a much popular brother was never an issue for Vin and he welcomed the possibility of them working again together onscreen. "I would love that. Actually nag-work na kami together before na sobrang nag-enjoy ako. The name of the movie was Hermano Puli. Siya si Hermano Puli at ako yung heneral niya si Apolonio Dela Cruz. Wala kaming kompetisyon ni Aljur. Tulungan kami. In every scene nagtutulungan kami kung kamusta yung scene or ano yung better na puwedeng gawin. Yun ang ginagawa namin,” he explained.

2017 is starting out well for Vin as he is part of the upcoming new Primetime Bida series Wildflower starring Maja Salvador.

Moonlight Over Baler also stars Sophie Albert, Ellen Adarna, and Elizabeth Oropesa. Directed by Gil Portes and written by Eric Ramos. It opens on February 8 in theaters nationwide.
