Pia Wurtzbach comforted Maxine Medina after her Miss U journey ended in the Top 6.
After Pia Wurtzbach crowned Miss France Iris Mittenaere as her successor during the 65th Miss Universe pageant, she went out of her way to comfort the country’s bet Maxine Medina. A picture of her hugging Maxine circulated online.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News reporter Kat Domingo, she revealed her message to Maxine.
"Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Mars, ang maganda dito, walang kakalat na video sa YouTube na nagkamali ka sa Q and A', kasi yun yung pinaka-inaalala niya. Sabi ko, 'Walang mambabash sa'yo kasi hindi ka nagkamali,' she said.
Pia added that Maxine was really pressured since her fellow Filipinos hoped for a back-to-back win.
“She wasn't crying, she was actually okay... She was really worried about making everybody proud,” Pia said.
Jonas Gaffud, who trained both Pia and Maxine commented that Maxine was really under a lot of pressure.
"Ang sabi ni Maxine sa akin after, kung hindi lang sa Pilipinas (nangyari ang Miss Universe), mas kaya niya sigurong lumaban. Nahirapan talaga siya sa pressure," he said.
"Alam mo naman na iba ang pressure ng Pinoy diba? Parang kailangan perfect ka palagi so nahirapan talaga si Maxine,” he added.
