Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina is part of the Top 13.
Among the 86 candidates, host Steve Harvey has announced the top 13 candidates in the running for the title of Miss Universe 2016.
Before naming the Top 13, Steve briefly interviewed reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and she revealed that she signed with IMG Models, an international model management firm that’s based in New York. Some notable models signed under IMG Models are sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, Hailey Baldwin and Miss Universe 2016 host Ashley Graham to name a few.
She also thanked Steve for making her the “most famous Miss Universe” and he thanked her for making him the most famous Miss Universe host.
First in the top 13 was Miss Kenya Mary Esther Were, who is also the first woman in her country to be the candidate for Miss Universe. Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw, Miss USA Deshauna Barber and Miss Mexico Kristal Silva soon followed Miss Kenya to the front of the stage.
Also still in the running are Miss Peru Valeria Piazza, Miss Panama Keity Drennan, Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar, and Miss Philippines Maxine Medina.
Maxine revealed that her aunt, former Binibining Pilipinas Universe Gem Padilla, gave her some advice on how to win the crown. “She told me to be myself and be more confident since it’s gonna be in the Philippines.”
The next candidates to join the top 13 were Miss Canada Siera Bearchell, and Miss Brazil Raissa Santana, who is the first black woman to represent her country in Miss Universe.
Also headed to the semi-finals are Miss France Iris Mittenaere, and Miss Haiti Raquel Pélissier.
The last candidate, who won a million votes from the fans at home, is Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane.
