Vice Ganda reacts to being called a 'bad influence' on Awra

012717-ViceGandaPUSH.jpgVice Ganda bluntly addressed persistent rumors accusing him of negatively influencing child star Awra Briguela to become outwardly gay.

The two worked on the record-breaking hit The Super Parental Guardians after first meeting on the set of the primetime soap FPJ's Ang Probinsyano. Awra is even slated to join Vice at his fifth major concert titled Pusuan Mo Si Vice Ganda Sa Araneta this coming February 14.

"Wala kasing edad 'yon. Walang tamang edad kung kailan ka dapat mag-bakla. Walang tamang edad kung kailan ka dapat puwede nang mag-bakla," he explained.

Although he wanted to discuss it further, Vice said that one press conference won't be enough to cover all bases.

"Kailangan mo talagang i-explain sa kanila. Dapat talaga ang Pilipino ay ini-educate," he said.

His statement stems from his concern that a good number of Filipinos remain misinformed about the notions surrounding gender and sexuality.

"Hindi natin 'yon nauunawaan kasi kulang pa 'yong kaalaman ng mga Pilipino dahil nalimitahan tayo ng edukasyon na available sa Pilipinas pati na rin ng mga nakagawian natin—ng mga tradisyon, relihiyon. Maraming factors 'yan," he said.

Vice and Awra's close ties and good chemistry was seen in their segment of last year's Christmas Special.

This is the reason why many were happy when Vice confirmed, through a video, that Awra would be one of the guests of his concert.

Apart from Awra, Maja Salvador, Daniel Padilla, Michael Pangilinan, Daryl Ong, and Kris Lawrence are also slated to be part of his concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, if there's one thing that Vice brought into Awra's life it would be happiness.

"Pinagbabawalan muna kaming magsama kasi si Awra masyado nang masaya mula nung nagkakilala kami. Hindi na raw maka-iyak. Hindi na makahugot kasi happy na siya," he explained.

He emphasized that he considers Awra as his younger sibling. Vice, stage brother as he was, even gave Awra some tips on how he could conquer Your Face Sounds Familiar in the weeks to come.

Vice said his upcoming concert is all about loving, healing and moving on.
