EXCLUSIVE: Jerico Estregan looks forward to playing a kontrabida in ‘Across the Crescent Moon’

012117-JericoEstregan_PUSH.jpgAfter being launched as part of last year’s batch of Regal Babies, Jerico Estregan started off the year as part of the upcoming action drama epic Across the Crescent Moon where he plays the role of a villain. The son of former Laguna governor and actor E.R Ejercito said he was happy to accept the role with full blessings from his dad. "It is my first kontrabida role. Walang hesitations kasi actually isa nga ito sa mga pinaka inaabangan kong projects. Sana magkaroon pa ako ng project na kontrabida ako para malaman ko rin kung ano yung feeling na ganun. My dad just told me to do my best. Tapos he told me, ‘Sana basahin mo yung script ng mayos’ He told me to make my voice very clear and my facial expressions really have to come out on camera. Kailangan merong may konting piga ng onti pa,” he shared with Push.

Even though it was his first time to work with co-stars Matteo Guidicelli, Alex Godinez, Dina Bonnevie, and Christopher De Leon, Jerico said he was excited about the whole project. "Actually before na sumalang naman kami sa mga eksena, I made friends with them because it was my first time to meet them those times. Matteo and I even practiced lots of days for the fight scenes and we got to know each other more. Same with Alex who I met sa set na mismo. These people are really good friends of mine now,” he admitted.

Apart his showbiz career, Jerico said he is still very much active as an athlete and hopes to represent the country later this year. "Despite me being an actor that I am, I’m still an athlete for track and field. It’s my last playing year for La Salle and I have one playing year left for the UAAP. And I also hope that I get to compete in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) by August kasi our qualifications will be this coming March or April so I hope I do my best. I’m also a coach for Nike Running Club,” he said.

For 2017, Jerico is already gearing up for more projects to come in aside from being part of a primetime soap. "I actually have plans. I have a teleserye coming up sa ABS-CBN. I hope it goes well kasi it’s a fantaserye. We’ll start shooting pa lang by next month so I cannot mention it. I’m super excited na. I’m playing a human character. I can’t say who my co-stars are yet kasi we still have screenings and stuff like that,” he added.
