Maxine Medina shares what some of the other candidates think about the Filipino language.
Miss Universe Philippine representative Maxine Medina is apparently aware of the ongoing backlash regarding her communication skills.
In a post by showbiz reporter MJ Marfori, Maxine shared the reason why she would consider using an interpreter for the upcoming pageant that is happening on January 30 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
"Oo naman napakaganda ng Tagalog and there is this one time Pia (Wurtzbach) and I were talking and all of the candidates were like, 'Oh it's so nice to hear you talking in Tagalog.' So for me wala naman masama kung mag translate tayo and I'm here also to win... I will request if I have to," she said.
Maxine likewise said that there’s a possibility for her to become the first Filipina candidate to use an interpreter.
Maxine earned criticisms for her “incoherent” and “thoughtless” response about her advocacy during a recent press conference.
In a separate interview by PTV, 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz was quoted as saying that she doesn’t believe that Maxine can give the country a back-to-back win after Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s success.
