Olivia Lamasan reflects on the maturity of KathNiel in their upcoming film ‘Barcelona: A Love Untold.’
On Tonight with Boy Abunda, the director of the film Barcelona: A Love Untold, Olivia Lamasan, responded to those that claim that the movie is similar to a previous film she directed, Milan.
“Maraming similarities, one – parehong shi-noot sa Europe. Pero napakalayo ng kuwento. Iba.”
Of the 12 films she’s directed, five were shot abroad. Although not intentional, this time, the film was shot in Spain, specifically in Barcelona. “We chose Barcelona because Carmi (Raymundo), the writer, had this brilliant idea na parang ginawa niyang metaphor ang Sagrada Familia, the church, sa kung paano umibig yung isang character na si Eli,” she explained.
Inang admitted she is a fan of KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla) and shared, “Ay! Akong una! Kailangan akong unang makilig. Kilig na kilig ako sa kanila, Boy. But you know, ang maganda rito, pinag-uusapan namin nina Carmi, parang iba na yung level ng kilig nilang dalawa.”
“In fact it was Carmi who told me, galing sila sa She’s Dating the Gangster na kilig ni Cathy Garcia-Molina na talagang nakaka-irit na kilig. Ang kilig naman sa Crazy Beautiful You, directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, parang comedic. This one it’s different,” she expounded.
According to Inang, the chemistry between Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in the film is very palpable.
“Mataas ang sexual tension!” she exclaimed. “They have matured, naging mama na sila at dalaga.”
When asked to describe Kathryn, Inang said, “she’s a butterfly.” Daniel on the other hand is, “the man to watch out for. He is to me the new Aga Muhlach— with an Adonis face and a great acting prowess. He’s a gifted soul, Boy. Revelation siya sa akin sa pelikulang ito.”
