Jodi Sta. Maria on her I-Emmy nomination: ‘Nag-pay off yung pasensya, yung hard work, yung pagod’

092916-JodiStaMaria_PUSH.jpgWith a press release dated last September 26, the 44th International Emmy Awards officially announced Jodi Sta. Maria as one of their nominees for Best Actress for her role as Amor Powers in the teleserye Pangako Sa ‘Yo

The 34-year-old actress held a solo press con on September 28 to share the good news. "I was so surprised as in to the point na when the news was delivered to me talagang it really brought tears to my eyes. Literally I cried. This is something unexpected. Though before they told me to fill out a form for the nomination, pero ang tagal na ng panahon na lumipas so alam mo yuhng nawala na siya sa isip ko

“And then one day si Tita Mariole (Alberto of Star Magic) called me and she was congratulating me. I thought for a different project kasi meron kaming inaayos. So thank you naman ako ng thank you. Little did I know that she was congratu-lating me pala because of the International Emmys nomination. I was really thankful na nabigyan ng opportunity at siyempre napansin tayo, ang Pilipino, sa international Emmys,” she said.

In her category, Jodi is nominated alongside English actress Judi Dench, Grazi Massafera and Christiane Paul. So maganda rin naman yung body of work nila and kilala rin sila sa larangan nila and marami rin silang mga awards under their belts so nakakatuwa.

“To be nominated alongside the great Judi Dench di ba parang sobrang honor na yun for me na kung sakali na palarin tyao di ba parang sobra sobrang bonus at blessing talaga yun.

With former nominees and Kapamilya stars like Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual having flown to the US to attend the prestigious event, Jodi said she will not pass up on the chance to be at the awards night which will be held on November 21 at the Hilton New York Hotel.

After portraying the role of Amor Powers in “Pangako,” Jodi had no idea it would lead to this after almost 17 years in showbiz. To be able to do parang different kinds of roles na hindi ka na-ta-typecast sa isang role lang

So-brang nakakataba ng puso yung pagmamahal ng Panginoon,” she explained.

Even her son Thirdy shares in her excitement according to Jodi. "Oh my, sobra sobrang saya niya. Kasi nakikita niya na sobrang saya ko. pero siyempre si Thirdy is just 10 years old and siguro hindi pa niya naiintindihan masyado yung magnitude nitong International Emmys pero bilang mahal niya ako, nanay niya ako at nakikita niya talaga yung joy sa puso ko, ayun masayang masaya din siya para sa akin,” she revealed.

Now that she has earned recognition abroad, does this mean Jodi wil become picky when it comes to her succeeding projects? The talented actress said she has always valued the quality of her work.
